North Seattle’s own Dunn Gardens date all the way back to 1915. Today, these historically significant gardens are preserved for the enjoyment of the public by the E.B. Dunn Historic Garden Trust. Experience naturalistic tree groupings, shrub-bordered lawns, and woodland walks. The gardens’ plant life includes majestic douglas firs, Japanese maples, rhododendrons, ferns, and dozens of other species from throughout the globe.
If you visit during the gardens’ regular tour schedule, you can experience the sights of the gardens through a docent-led guided tour. These tours last roughly one and a half hours, and are held on Thursday at 1:00 pm, Friday at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, and Saturdays at 10:00 am. Tours are held from April 1st through July, and from September 1st through October. Reservations must be made in advance, and tours generally book up weeks beforehand, so give yourself plenty of time. Admission is $10.00, with a $5.00 senior discount.
