Appreciating the Sea World at Seattle Aquarium
The Seattle Aquarium in Pier 49 is the ninth largest aquarium in the U.S. by attendance and among Puget Sound’s top draws. Learn of the aquarium’s many attractions.
From their exhibits, watch the large, fearful-looking yet very shy sixgill sharks, the mysterious and beautiful Pacific giant octopus, mesmerizing moon jellies, and then there’s the gregarious sea otters, river otters, harbor seals and fur seals. Be one of those enjoying a dive show in front of the huge 20’ x 40’ Window on Washington waters exhibit. It’s a breathtaking 120,000-gallon exhibit that greets you as you come into the Seattle Aquarium.
More than 800 fish and invertebrates – salmon, rockfish, lingcod, wolf eels and more – swim in and out of the exhibit’s large rock formations, which are also homes for anemones, sea stars, sea urchins and corals. These are indigenous to the Pacific Northwest’s local waters. You’ll see divers three times a day in this exhibit: at 10am, 11:30am and 12:15pm, and they also answer questions from the audience.
Another feature of the aquarium is the Underwater Dome, where a short tunnel leads you into a one-of-a-kind exhibit: an undersea dome with a 360º view into a 400,000-gallon tank filled with hundreds of fascinating Puget Sound fish. They hold fish feeding, daily at 1:30pm. See, touch and explore the sea life of Puget Sound tide pools, by touch-interacting with sea cucumber, sea urchins, hermit crabs, sea stars and anemones.
Then see a slice of the magnificent Pacific Coral Reef through the Aquarium’s 25,000 gallon community exhibit – brightly colored creatures and delicate habitats. Finally, take a walk outside in the beautiful open-air exhibit along the rough and rocky shorelines of Puget Sound, and find many species of shorebirds, many of them reclusive little creatures.

What’s FEMA got to do with our Hotel in Seattle?
FEMA stands for Federal Emergency Management Agency, an agency of the US Department of Homeland Security. The primary purpose of FEMA is to coordinate the disaster efforts occurring anywhere in the US and comes in when the resources of local and state authorities are overwhelmed.
FEMA extends its authority to buildings and lodgings, like hotels and motels. To be an approved lodging, any building four stories and above should have at least one single-station and hard-wired smoke alarm in each guest room, and must have an automatic fire sprinkler system in each guest room as well. Also, said particular lodgings are approved for U.S. federal government employees while on official travel.
Simply put, our hotel in Seattle has taken steps to protect its environs and its occupants from the hazard of fire. Comfort Inn is a safe place to stay.
FEMA Hotel Fire Safety Tips: Be safe when traveling
- Choose a hotel/motel that is protected by both smoke alarms and a fire sprinkler system.
- During check-in, ask the front desk what the fire alarm sounds like.
- Entering your room, review the escape plan posted in your room.
- Take the time to find the exits and count the number of doors between your room and the exit. Make sure the exits are unlocked. If they are locked, report it to management right away.
- Keep your room key by your bed and take it with you if there is a fire.
- If the alarm sounds, leave right away, closing all doors behind you. Use the stairs — never use elevators during a fire.
- If you must escape through smoke, get low and go under the smoke to your exit.

Known for big variety and jovial atmosphere, Pike Place is a wet and dry market that will suit anybody’s appetite for fresh produce, food, crafts, specialty stores and a lot more. Sitting on nine acres of space from Pike St. north to Virginia St. and from 1st Avenue west to Western Avenue, the market promises a sensory experience.
The sensibleness of the market lies on preserving and propagating the tradition of direct engagement between farmers and buyers. Washington farmers sell their produce to the community all days, all year round bringing freshness, sustainability, and affordability to homes, stores and organizations. If you shop here, you are actually helping keep the tradition alive for generations to come.
Stroll through farmers’ stalls and find fruits and vegetables in season, dairy products, wine, fish, meat and poultry, processed foods, and flowers. Take home specialty foods, like deli meats, artisan cheese, or spices. Indulge inside arcades full of crafts and decor, jewelry and leather goods, toys and kitchenware. One day is just not enough.

Many made mentioned of the wide, open spaces in the campuses, the greenery and the climate that make this institution one of the best places to study. The buildings themselves, some are so old but truly retaining wisdom, bear the markings of learning in their walls, rooms, and hallways. Student life seem a breeze as everything a student may need in the voyage are available and for the taking. A Neighborhood Mall, an Upscale Neighbor
It’s a neighborhood mall in 984,000 sq ft of space. Not too big, not too small either. Northgate Mall is a shopping center in upscale north urban Seattle, actually the first covered mall in the whole of US, back in the 1950s. It may be a long-standing structure but due to several major renovations over the years, the mall has that look of modern malls of the millennium. It is anchored by such contemporary brands of Bed Bath & Beyond, JCPenney, Macy’s and Nordstrom.
Shop with ease among its 130 retail stores and dine in over 2 dozen eating choices. It does have its own food court and three major department stores and a play area for kids. Mall hours are from 10am to 9pm, Mondays to Saturdays while Sunday hours are 11am to 7pm.
Northgate Mall is conveniently located off of I-5, exit Northgate Way. The mall is bounded on the north by NE Northgate Way, on the west by 1st Avenue NE, on the south by NE 103rd Street, and on the east by 5th Avenue NE.
